And she is the most beautiful thing Saturno has seen, unaware of his growing testosterone-fueled attraction to women.

Concept of beauty

Venus seems to have a good concept of beauty as it applies to individual pieces, the only thing she doesn’t seem to grasp is the concept symmetry to the physical form as a whole. That and that beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Heh, many models and actors make good money by NOT being symmetrical. The human brain screams "fake" when a person looks too perfect. Usually it's right.

If you really examine a model's or actor's face you will notice many of them have slightly deviated eyes, nose, or mouth, but they hold their head so their features line up with your eyesight. It's a brilliant trick my grandfather taught me. Weirdly, I've noticed doing this also makes people think you are more trustworthy.

True, perfect symmetry looks fake, but a person who comes closer to this without actually achieving it generally is considered more “beautiful” by industry standards. Venus in her original form is a puzzle of different parts she has deemed beautiful, which ignores balance in proportion, and thus is unappealing, her new form she doesn’t consider beautiful since it has ironed out this drastic difference of one part and another, but as a whole she looks much closer to the human standard of beauty, which she doesn’t seem to understand, just like the others have areas of studies they are devoted to, but miss the bigger picture concerning those areas.

About Beholders

You see, everone's saying 'beauty is in the eye of the beholder'. In D&D terms, beholders see themselves as the perfect form. If anything has even a slight difference, they see the other creature as inferior.

This is what comes to my mind everytime I hear that phrase as well.

Beauty is only in the eye of the quantum observer.
