I don’t think our friend here was in love with Alpha, but I think he does care about her. I think his issue is the upbringing. Alpha was brought up in one world with one mentality while this guy was brought up in another. Survival is all he knows so he does not know how to bond or if he already has bonded.

I don't know, being so dutifully betrayed by the ones he called friends (even though he planned to backstab them as well), I can't imagine anything more than a lustful connection. With any luck she'll have died and Saturno will go back to not being anyone's bitch (except the world creature...)

That said I wouldn't be surprised if Alpha IS the world creature's avatar. The science she pushed on Saturno is well beyond what human scientists are capable of doing.
