Alpha...if you were trying to convince him to give up then that was the exact wrong thing to say. Even more so when he finally cracks the language barrier and learns that giving up is far less common then not doing so.

Thinking about it, both we as readers and Saturno know very little about the World Creature. We know it eats things that try to eat it but aside from that, almost nothing.
A little food for thought - what if the creature is every bit as sentient as Alpha and Saturno? What if it is capable of seeing and hearing everything that happens on it?

Wouldn't matter really. Demons absorb the mind of the demons they eat alive. The world demon must be batshit crazy, with only just enough awareness to eat what threatens it directly.

Well, we already know that the world creature has capabilities that regular creatures don't have. It's entirely possible that the world creature is so large and so ancient that it has figured out how to block out the "white noise" that would be the other creatures' conscious minds. Afterall, Alpha refers to the land creature in this panel as a 'god,' which opens my expectations a little bit.
My theory is that Alpha was just like Saturno in her youth. Hostile and hungry for power. In her struggle to become the next land creature, she learned of the futility of her quest, likely through a grand epiphany about the science behind the land creature's existenc. Or perhaps, a social encounter with the land creature itself. This turned her interest towards the alien, free world of humans. A world not governed by some almighty 'god.'

That makes sense; "impossable" is just a word that people who give up invented to make other peolpe give up with them so that they could feel some vindication, so it's probably not actually impossable.

Wow... This story is incredible...
Sure, the sex thing is ehhh, but your intense focus on the primal is really amazing. Also, the way you've opened up this story is amazingly well done.
I'm subbed.
