There was a bit of talk about: Why he is unhappy?

Read the end of the Grey Matter chapter and beginning of Killing Spree. I say it's a bit of burn out with the frustration of not getting anywhere with his reading attempts. Saturno also would never want to admit failure to them.

If food was what only made him happy he could have just stayed outside and kept eating things. (That would have gotten boring for me as a writer.)

Now about this page: Vinchi and Venus are stopping Nike, (they won't tell him this) because they don't think Nike can win.
Who would win? Let's just cut the potential fight scene out and say. Saturno would win. Nike is just as strong, but he's a rusty fighter. Now Alpha can still beat Saturno, but she fights cheap. She won't mess around. Right to the weak point. Gone. If it were just an arm wrestling match, Saturno would win. Saturno's got strength but no technique or skills.
I could have made a few pages of a fight scene(that would have taken 6 months), but I'm not that kinda writer and.. I want something else to play out. Fighting is the 1st choice among these creatures though. Wanted to eliminate that option.

Oh but if there was a fight this other scene that I want to happen won't happen. And this scene is sooo much better than a Nike vs Saturno fight.

I just tease, I trust you to tell a great story. I am always just excited for the next page. Plus we just had that big rampage and Alpha's attack. Honestly this is a series where a conversation can be more tense than a fight.

I wonder if Alpha's appearance was inspired by the Parasyte mangas. I read Demon Eater before I ever heard about Parasyte and now that I return to Demon Eater, the little tentacle coming out of her head bears similar aesthetics. I think it's cool!

I actually based Alpha's design after the Silent Hill video game's nurse monsters. They were pale, showed cleavage, and they always had their head back all creepy. The vines/whips were based after those monsters in Resident Evil when you shoot at their head gross tentacles appeared shaking all over the place.

I only saw the Parasyte anime last summer. I was avoiding it for the longest time cause it was hella creepy and felt I didn't want to unintentionally copy it. I did really like it and its still pretty different than DE's future plot.
