As far as I understand their biology Saturno can only be killed if either his brain or his main core is destroyed, both of which are in his noggin. so if his head was ripped off the head would still be alive and the body would just be inert. If his head was crushed that would kill him.

Yes, but as part of adulthood Saturno developed many smaller cores throughout his body, so I don't know what would happen.

Have we ever found out why Alpha went to the trouble of creating a human-looking body but left off the head? I could see her keeping the tendrils as part of a Medusa-head.
